Thoughts from Julie...
My work, these days, reflects a wonderful
time in my life.  As an artist, connecting to

nature energizes, and fulfills me
in a way that can only be described as
“joyful”. The dialogue between my subject
matter and me is endless. Now, I chose,
not to deliberately duplicate a scene I see,
but rather, use my life experience, and
reflections to illuminate the “mood of the
moment”. My favorite times to paint,
are early morning and late afternoon,
primarily because of the long shadows
and intensified contrasts that happen.
It’s a magical time for me.
My hope is that my images connect the
viewer to my thoughts and feelings as
well their own.

              Artist’s Bio...
A well-known and respected artist of the northeast, Julie L. Hickcox
has been capturing her surroundings as a painter for her entire career.
Hickcox explores the sanctuary of our common scenery. Working in
acrylic, her impressionistic realism creates dramatic landscapes

shadows. The vibrant and colorful body of her work captures a restful
glow. It is here, in these familiar scenes that the artist ply’s her
vision, putting forth unexpected and visually dynamic twists using
color, light and space. The view is lifted, like a spirit, into reality,
for all to walk into with startling truth.
